DISCLAIMERS:

- This product is a sharpening guide only and does not include a sharpening stone which is required to sharpen your knives.

- This product is made with carbon fiber embedded PETG. I selected this filament for its enhanced mechanical and aesthetic properties. Please be aware that airborne carbon fiber dust is dangerous to inhale and avoid sanding, cutting, or otherwise altering the body of the sharpener.

- The nylon contact balls are very durable, but still soft. To avoid excess wear, please don't use the Anystone Sharpener on abrasive work surfaces/bench tops. Smooth surfaces are best! The following surfaces are known to cause accelerated wear:

  • Uncoated MDF
  • Brushed aluminum

A bit of a let down

The construction is such that the stone has to be fairly tall to work so it’s not really as user friendly as the videos show. Any sort of glass or diamond plate or stone must be elevated a good couple inches off the work surface to achieve the right angle - even higher for a narrower blade. The clamp also doesn’t secure the blade properly so it slides around during sharpening. Clamps could use something like replaceable strip of rubber, leather, or cork to hold the blade securely without marring the surface. The lockdown knobs for adjustment screws are superfluous as the screws are perfectly functional when these are snugged down or not at all. $65 for a 3D printed guide with these kinds of limitations is pretty disappointing.
